Join us for an evening around the new exhibition of [[Coralie Vogelaar]] [https://puntwg.nl/emotion-recognition-from-an-algorithmic-point-of-view Emotion Recognition from an algorithmic point of view] at Punt WG and Face the InterFace the new smart mirror project from [[Anja Groten]] recently presented at [http://todaysart.nl/2018/program/anja-groten-face-the-interface/ Todays Art] in The Hague.
In collaboration with [[Coralie Vogelaar]], [[Anja Groten]] is organising an evening on contemporary computer tracking techniques and how to artistically and critically approach them.

Emotion Recognition from an algorithmic point of view is a collaboration between visual artist Coralie Vogelaar choreographer Marjolein Vogels and actress Marina Miller Dessau.
Together with [[Margarita Osipian]] they will talk and discuss the issues you encounter when working with new technologies: how critical or open-minded should you approach it? Is there anything ‘off the grid’ or are you always ‘part of the system’? Should you worry about these things as an artist?

Together they explored and trained deconstructed facial expressions according to the Facial Action Coding System, developed by prof. Paul Ekman in 1978. This system forms the basis of contemporary emotion recognition software and shows us a computer way of looking at our emotions.
The event will take place in the exhibition space PuntWG (WG-terrein!) where the exhibition [https://puntwg.nl/emotion-recognition-from-an-algorithmic-point-of-view Emotion Recognition from an algorithmic point of view] by Vogelaar is taking place exploring deconstructed facial expressions.

By combining these collaborative performative experiments with algorithmic compositions and image blending as a method, these studies have resulted in – amongst other – two video installations and a live performance exploring the complexities and unknown expressions of the face.

In collaboration with Coralie Vogelaar, Anja Groten is organising an evening on contemporary computer tracking techniques and how to artistically and critically approach them.

Together with Margarita Osipian they will talk and discuss the issues you encounter when working with new technologies: how critical or open-minded should you approach it? Is there anything ‘off the grid’ or are you always ‘part of the system’? Should you worry about these things as an artist?

The event will take place in the exhibition space PuntWG (WG-terrein!) where the exhibition Emotion Recognition from an algorithmic point of view by Vogelaar is taking place exploring deconstructed facial expressions.
