==Coded Bodies==

The 5th edition of the H&D Summer Academy focuses on topics relating to the (human, post-human, trans-human, non-human) body and its interdependence with technology. By creating shared moments of learning and unlearning, H&D invites participating makers to discuss topics related to ubiquitous computing, disappearance of interfaces, transhumanism, digitized bodies, biometric data, agency of user, representation and citizenship…

==BYOW (Bring Your Own Workshop)==

The H&D Summer Academy aims to create space for experimentation, self-organisation, self-determined learning, and peer2peer exchange, while promoting ‘hands-on learning’ to enable critical design and developer’s practices. We therefore open the possibility for participants to contribute to the Summer Academy with a workshop.

To conclude the HDSA2019 Hackers & Designers proposed a two day workshop to push our understanding of technologies in relation to our bodies further. [http://www.lifthoofd.nl Erik Overmeire] introduced us to the making of wearable tech using sensors, arduinos and leds. Building on the data collection and the sensors experimentations done in prior workshops we developed futuristic wearables that visualised our environment (our inner selves) in relation to our environment.

Erik Overmeire has been working on developing this kind of technology for several art projects such as [http://www.lifthoofd.nl/portfolio/the-human-sensor/ The Human Sensor] and [http://www.lifthoofd.nl/portfolio/coral-love-stories-1/ Coral Love Stories] for the artist Kasia Molga or [http://www.lifthoofd.nl/portfolio/wearable-facade/ Wearable Facade] for Popkalab.
In the summer of 2019 Hackers & Designers brought together an international group of ambitious hackers/designers/makers/artists to learn by creating. During the 10 day program, consisting of workshops, lectures, and publishing activities, tutors and mentors became participants, participants became workshop leaders – everyone was taken on the collective venture of shared responsibility, bringing in one’s own expertise, urgencies and experience.
The Summer Academy concluded with a public program, in which participants were able to present the results created during the Summer Academy.
