In this hands-on session, we’ll build a compact 3V mini vibration tool designed for DIY tech pleasure making. Participants assemble a mini vibrating disk motor powered by a 2×AA battery holder with switch, using simple wiring (red/black hookup wires) and basic insulation (ideally shrink tubing).
The activity focuses on a quick, prototype-friendly workflow; connecting electronics, and secure the components into a small build. We will cast & mold participants’ objects with the vibrating motor; it’s a very simple and fun DIY vibrator (for the whole body), and there are many ways to build it, but this is the one we’ll use : )
Participants are invited to bring:
- a small compact object (~2.5 × 2.5 cm, minimal protrusions*), we’ll use it for an optional silicone cast/mold to create your pleasure object.
- Toys (or objects) with big open holes, hook-like shapes, or lots of moving parts usually won’t release cleanly from a mold. For this build, we’ll stick to the basics; shapes that cast well and are easy to pour.
Bio
Merel Noorlander is a non-binary maker-researcher, curator, and clown-burlesque-drag performer creating playful pleasure tools from everyday objects; like turning a shoe polisher into a flogger. They build open, community-led programs, workshops and courses that center care and collective power, co-creating around DIY intimate technologies, video, and multisensory installations with queer, immigrant makers and collaborators -working with grassroots organizations and educational institutions on social-practice sextech-cultivating a platform of self-made queer sex toys through knowledge exchange, skill sharing, stories, and tools.
