Join us for a breakfast, afternoon or evening meetup (depending on where you are) online on 30 June, where you will get to know two of the collectives participating in Hackers & Designers Summer Academy of 2022, themed Connecting Otherwise! From Aotearoa (formerly known as New Zealand, the collective NEWS will be joining us, who connect their practices as Place for Local Making + Negative Emissions and Waste Studies. As a group, they want to foster a community of maker-carer-user-hackers. In the meetup they will lift the veil on their plans for this years distributed summer academy.

From Seoul, South-Korea, we will be joined by Dot Dot Dot User Group (DDDUG). This collective is interested in exploring non-verbal expressions such as gestures, signs and sounds as a way of connecting and coexisting online. DDDUG asks: how can we dilute, replicate, concentrate or transmit markers of our own presence, while undoing perceived boundaries of a unique and separated self?

We are very excited about NEWS and DDDUG joining HDSA in 2022! As a warm-up to the main events taking place in July, we warmly welcome HDSA participants and friends to join, and get to know these two new partnering collectives and their plans for the summer academy. See you there!
