^h English (en)	“Cloud computing” has become the key component of today’s digital landscape. "The Cloud" suggests something immaterial, light, abstract, and placeless: data floating through the air. But this image overshadows the material reality of our digital habits: deep-sea internet cables, resource guzzling server farms, precious metals mined to produce chips and more “stuff” to make up what we now call “the cloud”. The tangible “stuff” that connects computing to everyday reality is largely owned, governed and designed by corporate big tech companies that make their decisions based on profit maximisation.
^h Dutch (nl)	“Cloud computing” is uitgegroeid tot een cruciaal onderdeel van het hedendaagse digitale landschap. “De cloud” roept het beeld op van iets immaterieels, luchtigs, abstracts en plaatsloos: gegevens die door de lucht zweven. Maar dit beeld overschaduwt de materiële realiteit van onze digitale gewoonten: internetkabels die de zeebodem kruisen, energieverslindende serverparken, edelmetalen die worden gewonnen om chips te produceren en nog meer ‘spullen’ die samen vormen wat we nu ‘de cloud’ noemen.
