As driven and passionate designer and researcher, Noortje van Eekelen is active in various capacities within the international artistic field. She is responsible for the preparation to the realisation of a multitude of on both commissioned and self-initiated projects.
 
Noortje van Eekelen aims to develop design projects with a social character, in order to inform society and raise critical awareness about contemporary issues. She strongly guards the quality of the design process. In the realisation of her work a method is used which seeks to implement research in the design and the associated expressions. In addition, the projects are approached from a critical theory based method. This kind of design uses design fiction and speculative design proposals to challenge assumptions, and conceptions about current developments.
