In this workshop we'll explore VPNs and use them to “evaporate” from Silicon Valley's watchful eyes. As a follow-up to the Linux workshop, we'll network our servers together into our own VPN. WireGuard is a modern, lightweight VPN protocol. Open source, fast, and simple enough to read and understand line by line. We'll set up a private network connecting our laptops and servers directly to each other, no company or dashboard in between. Along the way we'll get hands-on with IP addresses, encryption, and how routing actually works. No coding or networking background required, we will troubleshoot together as we go.

In this workshop we explored VPNs and used them to “evaporate” from Silicon Valley's watchful eyes. As a follow-up to the Linux workshop, we networked our servers together into our own VPN. WireGuard is a modern, lightweight VPN protocol. Open source, fast, and simple enough to read and understand line by line. We set up a private network connecting our laptops and servers directly to each other, no company or dashboard in between. Along the way we got hands-on with IP addresses, encryption, and how routing actually works. No coding or networking background was required, we troubleshot together as we went.
