In this workshop we explored VPNs and used them to “evaporate” from Silicon Valley's watchful eyes. As a follow-up to the Linux workshop, we networked our servers together into our own VPN. WireGuard is a modern, lightweight VPN protocol. Open source, fast, and simple enough to read and understand line by line. We set up a private network connecting our laptops and servers directly to each other, no company or dashboard in between. Along the way we got hands-on with IP addresses, encryption, and how routing actually works. No coding or networking background was required, we troubleshot together as we went. | |||

This event was only for participants of the Summer Camp 2026 and not open to the public. For public events you could check: HDSC2026 Clouds to Commons Public Program
