Understanding the context, a guided walk with Bart Stuart

Bart is a longterm artist/ activist with a studio present at NDSM. He will take us on a tour in the local area dissecting language and strategies by real estate developers and city council. The aim is to break down the narrative in order to reclaim it on our own conditions.

The NDSM area has a long history as a site of technological innovation, collective labour, and knowledge-sharing through shipbuilding, traces of which remain present in the neighbourhood and its residents today. By hosting HDSC2026 "Clouds to Commons" at NDSM Kunststad, H&D builds a bridge between this industrial past and contemporary artistic practices that critically engage with digital infrastructure. NDSM has been the ground to rapid transformation, with new residents and real estate development reshaping the neighborhood. It's important to question these processes and ou our presence as artists and makers.

Dress comfortably for a 2 hour field trip, bring water, a hat, a notebook and a pencil. We will observe and individually take notes. In a secret inner garden we will work as a collective to understand and breakdown the narrative. And built it up on our own terms!
